Kenya lies on the equator and covers an area of 583,000 square kilometers, roughly the size of Texas or Spain. Kenya's climate varies greatly with altitude but it is, on average, quite temperate and comfortable. Kenya's peoples are comprised of 40 tribal ethnic groups, with distinct languages, customs and traditions. Kiswahili is spoken by most Kenyans but English is also widely encountered.
